ARTUR SARGSYAN, "THE BREAD BEARER", IS DEAD. THE RULING POWER IN THE REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA BEARS DIRECT RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT. SELF PROCLAIMED REPRESENTATIVE INSTITUTIONS IN THE DIASPORA HOLD INDIRECT RESPONSIBILITY BY KEEPING SILENT
Thus, "the bread bearer" ("Hats Perogh") died on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 15:00 (Yerevan time).
The man had braved police roadblocks on July 26, 2016 to bring supplies to the insurgents ("Sasna Tsrer") who had stormed and held the headquarters of a police barracks in the Center Yerevan from 17 to 31 July.
On 17th July 2016 an armed group calling themselves Sasna Tzrer stormed the police station of Erebouni in Yerevan. This group was chiefly composed of heroes from the Karabagh war, such as Pavel Manoukian, Araik Khandoyan (known as the Lone Wolf), Varoujan Avetissian and others. These men are all political activists and members of the opposition party called "New Parliament".
This act was a protest against the socioeconomic situation in the Republic of Armenia, a contestation against the ruling power’s corruption, and the abusive arrest of their brother in arms and their party's leader: Jirair Sefilian. Their greatest grievance is the ruling power's minimization of the territorial losses during the April 2016 war and the fear of future land concession in Artsakh, leading them into this type of operation.
It was their refusal to see their land handed in by the ruling power that led them to prison.
These men and their families were living in a very precarious situation before this event, unfortunately, like most of Karabagh war’s fighters.
Things have gotten worse for the families of the men of Sasna Tzrer. Not only were they forced to rely financially on a single family member, but they also have to provide material and financial resources to ensure that Sasna Tzrer members have an acceptable situation in jail.
In fact, the Armenian State does not provide decent conditions of incarceration that would be in accordance with basics human rights.
So the families have to support their basic needs (foods in sufficient amount, clothes, medicines…).
These families are morally and financially weakened and impoverished, but they must face these challenges.
This is why Charjoum launches a call on donations to help the families of our national heroes. This fund-raising has the sole purpose of supporting these Armenian families facing a very difficult situation, which they cannot confront without our backing.
All the collected funds will be transmitted directly to the families without requiring any kind of intermediary.
Thank you very much.
